Works by Fine Arts Professor Thomas Lail is included in Portal: Governor’s Island, a month-long exhibition of solo projects by up to 100 selected artists, being held for its 12th year in the historic 1890s buildings of Colonel’s Row on Governor’s Island. The exhibition, organized by 4heads, Inc., has been called “the art fair for the 99%” by The New York Times.
Portal opens on Saturday, Aug. 31 and is on view from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through Sept. 29. Admission is free, but the 8-minute ferry ride to Governor’s Island is $3. Lail also concurrently exhibits Thomas Lail: Three Wallpapers, curated by Barbara Owen in Periphery Space at Paper Nautilus Books in Providence, Rhode Island. The installation features three rolls of silkscreened wallpaper unfurled down the stairwell of Paper Nautilus Books.
Three Wallpapers opens on Saturday, Sept. 7 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. and is on view through Saturday, Oct. 26.
